If you're like me, you got some stuff with your parents. And your parents got some stuff with their parents.
If you're like me, you got some stuff with your parents.
And your parents got some stuff with their parents. It's as common as a cold.
Since the dawn of time, every single one of us has sat down at a family dinner carrying the grudges of years past against our moms and dads.
And every single one of us wishes things could be different with them.
For years, I wished that the relationship between my dad and I was different. I prayed almost every day that I wouldn't carry this weight with me.
And so I asked The Big Man Upstairs for one more try, one more time to see if I could have something with my dad, a cordial ground to walk on.
In November of 2020, The Big Man Upstairs presented me with a phone call and an awkward invite from my father to join him on a 3000 mile, eleven-day road trip to attend the 12 Hours of Sebring Auto Race.
I wanted to say no, but my intuition told me that I needed to go on this trip. It may be the only one I get with him.
And so I went.
What started as a reluctant last-ditch effort to find common ground with Dad ended up being a trip of a lifetime. The road opened us up and gave us a space to share our grievances, experiences, and complexities.
We found we were cut from the same cloth. We found that we are romantics, both men of passion and purpose. And we both love each other no matter how different we are.
Today I am excited to announce that my book, The Road Ahead and Miles Behind: A Story of Healing and Redemption Between Father and Son, is now available for pre-order on Amazon!
It’s been a long journey to get here, and I am so excited to share with you all this book.
I would be honored if you grabbed a copy, left a review, and shared the book with your friends and loved ones.
