What Lies On The Other Side

What you really want is closer than you think.

Happy New Year, my friend!

I am excited for a new year and a fresh start, and I hope you are as well. I have been hitting the ground running promoting the book and building my company (I ended up doubling my team in a matter of weeks which was 🤯🤯. )

More importantly, I am excited to share with you in the coming months about the book, and a new project I am working on the coincides with it.

But first, a little story for you…

A friend of mine explained at dinner last night that when venture capitalist looks at companies and their founders, they evaluate not just the numbers of the business. They also look at the operating system of the founder.

How do they think about money? How have they handled adversity? What is their style of communication?

He mentioned that they dig into as much as they can to deconstruct the core beliefs of what the founder believes in surrounding anything imperative to the business.

Who would have known that the way we were raised, the viewpoints and beliefs we hold could be the key to a company's potential exploding or imploding?

While some of you who read this are not founders, it is important to reevaluate our core beliefs, especially this part of the new year. I know I have been digging into all of my fears, worries, and anxieties recently, and it has been quite fascinating to see where I got my initial beliefs around money, love, self-worth, to name a few.

And this is not easy work. It has taken me months to continue to dig into this part of me, and currently, I still am exploring it.

But what lies on the other side of breaking down my inherited beliefs, I believe, is life-changing.

So in the spirit of growth and change and interest, here are some questions for you that I have used to help decode what some of my barriers are:

  1. Where and from whom did I get my beliefs about (name the subject)?
  2. What makes me believe that I am not capable of doing what I want?
  3. Is what I currently think the truth about the world, myself, or others?

I hope you find these helpful as I have found them.

To The Road Ahead,
